HAKATA JAPAN

Symbol of Hakata textiles

The most traditional pattern of Hakata brocade is called kenjo which literally means "an offer". They were offers given to the government during the Edo period (1603-1868). Typically, there are three main patterns. The first one represents Buddhist altar equipment, the second one is thick lines that show the parents protecting the children and the third one is thin lines for the children, the filial piety. We keep on creating traditional Hakata kenjo with original new designs for our modern everyday life.

HAKATA JAPAN
