Our Commitment to Quality
A 400 year history
Nambu ironware was first created in the mid 17th century when a lord of the Nambu clan invited a master artisan from Kyoto to Morioka and asked him to create kettles for the tea ceremony. The lord then made efforts to educate students and train them to become excellent artisans. The region around Morioka had a rich soil which also contributed to the development of Nambu ironware. Nanbu ironware was recognized by the Japanese government as a traditional craft in 1975.
